Dr. Ruchir Maheshwari

  1. Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation, Fortis Hospital, Manesar, Gurgaon (August 2024 – present)

Heading Urology and renal transplant department of this newly launched 350 bedded facility (capacity of 550 beds). Involved in establishing the department of Urology and Renal transplantation, complete with all latest instruments and equipment for a fully functional department. Core member of various hospital committees.

2. Department of Urology, Renal Transplantation and Robotics, Max Super-speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi (August 2016 – August 2024) (Last designation: Director – Urology and Renal Transplantation)

Max Super Specialty Hospital at Saket is a flagship facility of Max Healthcare. This is a JCI and NABH accredited 550 + bedded tertiary care hospital having 35 specialties on board. The department of urology is one of the leading clinical department in this hospital ,equipped with state of the art facilities and cutting edge technologies in patient care and management. The department caters to more than 10,000 out patients and does more than 2000 surgeries including 200 renal transplants per annum. The Urology OT has state of the art da Vinchi® Xi surgical robot, wherein more then 1200 surgeries have been conducted since installation in 2015. The surgical armamentarium includes all  endourological and laparoscopic instruments, 100 W Holmium LASER, Thulium fibre LASER, urodynamic lab, Fusion TRUS biopsy – BK medicals, lap and robotic US and ESWL machine.

The department has  3 year DNB Urology training programme  with two trainee per year and 3 clinical fellows in minimally invasive and renal transplant surgery per annum.I was involved in management of patients of urology, uro-oncology and renal transplantation. Indenpendently run OPDs, admit patients and contribute to pre-operative planning, surgery and post operative care and management. I mentored clinical fellows in formulating patient care planning and surgery.

As academic incharge of the department, I was actively involved in teaching of DNB Urology students and supervising their desertation. I actively participated in clinical audits of the department and co-ordinate with quality control department to improvise patient care.

3. Consultant, Dept. of Urology, Max Super-speciality Hospital, Dehradun (May 2015 – June 2016)

Max Super Specialty Hospital Dehradun is a 200 bedded NABH accredited tertiary care facility of Max Healthcare located in the picturesque doon valley,  surrounded by beautiful Shivalik ranges in the state of Uttarakhand, Northern India. The Urology department catered to more than 2000 out-patients and conducted around 500 surgeries per annum. I was incharge of an independent Urology unit with OPD. I performed endo-urology, laparoscopic urology, onco-urology and reconstructive procedures of various complexities.

I was also involved in training of nursing staff to sensitise them in care of urology patients.

4. Consultant, Dept. Of Urology and Renal Transplantation, Apex Hospital, Jaipur (August 2010 – May 2015)

Apex Group of Hospitals in Jaipur, Rajasthan is a 200 + bedded NABH accredited multispecialty hospital with state of the art modular theaters, laparoscopic and endourological instruments, 20 W Holmium LASER, flexible ureteroscope and Ziess operating microscopes.

As first clinical assignment post training in Urology,I had worked as a consultant, urology and renal transplantation and honed my skills in various urological procedures. Over time, I had independently performed more then 2500 endo-urology, laparoscopic urology, onco-urology and reconstructive urethral procedures with emphasis on outcomes monitored by intra-departmental audits.

I had also played a key role in establishment of transplant programme in the centre, including development of protocols, taking care of legal aspects, designing of Kidney Transplant Unit and co-ordinating with other faculties. This was the first centre in the state of Rajasthan to start laparoscopic donor nephrectomy

I was member secretary of Institutional Ethics Committee and a member of Infection Control Committee of the hospital.

5. Senior Resident, Dept. of Urology and Renal Transplantation, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, UP (July 2007 – June 2010)

Popularly known as SGPGI, this is an high volume tertiary care center catering to a huge population in the northern part of India. Deemed university, the institute is one of the India’s top rated center both in terms of clinical training as well as research with many higly cites papers being published in scientific journals of repute.

The urology and renal transplantation department is renowned for advanced laparoscopic urology, renal transplantation, endourology, reconstructive urology, uro-oncology and paediatraic urology.

This is the largest and most acclaimed cancer center in Rajasthan, the largest state of India. Worked as senior resident and helped consultant – Surgical Oncology

M.B. Government Hospital is a 1200 bedded, tertiary care teaching hospital in Southern Rajasthan. I had extensive exposure in urological cases apart from generaly surgery. I also had 3 month rotation postings in neuro-surgery, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and paediatric surgery.
