Dr. Ruchir Maheshwari is the director of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Fortis Hospital, Manesar, Gurgaon. After completing his super specialisation training from the coveted Department of Urology and Kidney Transplant at the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, UP, he gained rich clinical experience while working in prestigious corporate hospitals in Jaipur, Dehradun and Delhi-NCR. He is well versed in surgical procedures across the spectrum of urology and has done more than 15,000 cases including several complex ones. During his previous assignment at Max Saket, he was actively involved in management of international patients and had conducted various international OPDs and surgical camps in central Asia and Africa.
He specialises in various endo-urological procedures for stones (PCNL, RIRS, URS), prostate surgeries (TURP, TURIS, Holmium LASER enucleation of prostate, Greenlight photovaporisation of prostate, ThuLEP), minimally invasive surgeries (laparoscopic nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, pyelolithotomy, uretrolithotomy, ureteric reimplantation), reconstructive urological surgeries (urethroplasty, VVF repair), etc. He is equally well versed in management of cancers related to kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, prostate and male external genitalia. An accredited robotic surgeon, he is passionate about minimally invasive surgical procedures and believes that patients should get maximum advantage of latest technologies.
Dr. Ruchir has got special interest in transplantation sciences including vascular access surgeries (AV fistula) and PD catheter placement. He had played a key role in starting and developing kidney transplant programme including Rajasthan state’s first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy programme. He has an cumulative experience of more than 15 years / 2000 cases of kidney transplantation, including laparoscopic donor nephrectomies, transplant with vascular reconstruction, swap transplants and cadaveric donor transplants.
He has got keen interest in academics and research. Till date, he has trained more than 20 residents and fellows. His patients and staff vouch for his rational and ethical approach with humane touch.
